Story: A journey to recover lost memories

The story follows Trey, a young man who has lost his memories and sets out across the land of Talea in search of his identity. Talea was once a prosperous empire under the rule of its Emperor, but after his death without naming a successor, a civil war broke out between two factions: the northern Logos and the southern Mythos. Fear spread across the land until a group of soldiers broke away and formed an independent protection force known as the Lumen.

Amid the chaos of war, Trey must uncover the truth behind his past while building bonds with mysterious creatures known as Animon.

Animon are more than just “Pokémon clones”

Animon are creatures formed from Anivis, a special type of energy that flows throughout the world. What makes them unique is that each species not only possesses elemental powers but can also influence the emotions and souls of living beings. This emotional connection system gives the game its own identity compared to other Monster Tamer titles.

At launch, the game features around 140 Animon species across 13 elemental types, each with unique abilities, strengths, and weaknesses. Players use Holoken devices to capture Animon in the wild, recruit them into their team, and battle to test their strategies.

Gameplay: Turn-based battles with multiple combat styles

LumenTale features two battle formats:

  • 1v1 battles – a classic format focused on individual tactics
  • 4v4 team battles – allowing for deeper strategic combinations between party members

Strategy plays a major role in combat. Every Animon has different strengths and weaknesses, and understanding them is key to winning battles.

Trading system and collection building

To help players complete their Animon collection, the game includes three trading methods:

  • Connect to the Animon Trade Station to search for specific species
  • Trade directly with friends
  • Exchange Animon with the wider player community

This feature is especially useful for players aiming to complete the full Animon collection without spending dozens of hours grinding.

Anispace – The home of Animon

Anispace is a mysterious realm that both exists and does not exist within the game world. It serves as the place where captured Animon are stored, trained, and cared for. Players can also customize the space to reflect their own style.

In addition, the game features the Fountain system, a resting area where players can craft items and cook meals to support their Animon companions.

LumenTale: Memories of Trey looks like a promising choice for fans of the Monster Tamer genre, especially for players searching for a fresh experience beyond Pokémon or Palworld.
