Survive on a brand-new planet

In this installment, players take on the role of Pioneers aboard the CICADA colony ship operated by the Alterra corporation. After an unexpected incident leaves you stranded on a vast ocean world, you must follow guidance from the ship’s artificial intelligence (AI) to adapt, build bases, and uncover secrets hidden deep beneath the sea in order to protect humanity’s future.

4-player co-op arrives for the first time

One of the biggest upgrades in Subnautica 2 is the ability to play with friends. Alongside the traditional solo survival experience, players can now team up in a 4-player online co-operative multiplayer mode. You can choose from a roster of pre-designed characters and work together to build bases, craft equipment, and face massive underwater creatures.

Explore and adapt

To survive, players will need to make full use of new tools and vehicles, including the Tadpole submarine. The game world features a variety of vibrant yet dangerous biomes filled with unique lifeforms. From tiny sea creatures to gigantic Leviathans, every dive into the ocean offers opportunities to scan data, study ecosystems, and uncover the truth behind the AI’s mysterious mission.

As an Early Access release, Unknown Worlds says the game world will continue to expand with additional biomes, new creatures, and story updates shaped by community feedback. Players can visit the official Steam page for Subnautica 2 to stay updated on the latest developments and contribute feedback throughout the game’s development.
