The final confrontation with Mephisto

In Lord of Hatred, players embark on a challenging new campaign to stop Mephisto. The Lord of Hatred is executing a plan to destroy humanity and corrupt the world. A notable twist in the story is the return of Lilith as an uneasy ally, the only one capable of helping players reach and stop Mephisto before he gains access to the Pools of Creation.

Two new classes arrive: Paladin and Warlock

The expansion adds more gameplay variety with two brand-new classes:

  • Paladin: Wielding hammer and shield, the Paladin channels the power of the Holy Light to deliver devastating melee attacks.
  • Warlock: A master of dark magic, the Warlock can summon hellfire, manipulate demons, and command infernal armies to overwhelm enemies.

Explore the ancient land of Skovos

The journey expands into Skovos, a previously unexplored region. Skovos is considered the birthplace of the first civilization and is now ruled by The Oracle and the Amazon Queen. The area features diverse environments, from volcanic regions in the west to dense jungles in the east and vast wetlands, along with new dungeons and formidable enemies.

Skill and gear systems overhauled

Blizzard has introduced major mechanical updates to deepen character customization:

  • Improved Skill Tree for all eight classes and an increased level cap.
  • Introduction of a Loot Filter system to help players find suitable gear more easily.
  • The return of iconic mechanics such as the Horadric Cube, a new Talisman socketing system, and set bonuses.

Endgame content and additional features

The endgame system has been fully revamped with War Plans, allowing players to design their own progression paths by selecting activities and difficulty modifiers. Players can push their limits in the Echoing Hatred mode or unwind with Fishing across the waters of Sanctuary.

Notably, Lord of Hatred comes bundled with the first expansion, Vessel of Hatred, enabling new players to experience the full storyline. To access this content, players must own the base game Diablo IV.
