The battle between firefighters and artists

In OCTOPinbs, players are divided into two groups with completely opposite objectives:

  • Firefighters (Octopuses): The mission of this group is to extinguish fires and bring the fire level down to 0%, or capture all saboteurs in Octojars. To win, players must carefully observe nearby rooms and detect suspicious behavior.
  • Artists (Squid): These infiltrators hide under the disguise of firefighters. Their goal is to raise the fire level to 100% or eliminate the entire firefighting team. Artists must act convincingly, pretending to help while secretly spreading flames when no one is watching.

The Octojars system and critical mistakes

When a player is suspected of suspicious behavior, the team can send them into Octojars to confirm their identity. If the player is indeed an Artist, the firefighters gain a major advantage. However, if an innocent teammate is mistakenly sent into the container, the firefighting force loses valuable manpower, giving saboteurs the upper hand. Careful observation and situational analysis are key to making the right decision.

Never truly eliminated

A unique feature of OCTOPinbs is that losing all health points (HP) is not the end. If you are burned or take damage, your character enters a weakened state without protective gear. At this point, you must quickly return to the fire truck to recover and rejoin the match. Only when you are trapped in Octojars does your journey truly end, though you can still observe the match from another player’s perspective.

Even when their identity is exposed, Artists still have a chance to turn the match around. They can choose to fully reveal themselves to activate a "true form" state. While their position becomes visible to everyone, they gain significantly increased health, movement speed, and access to powerful new abilities to dominate the match.
