Castles are traditionally built to stand in one place, but in Wanderburg, they can move. The minimalist roguelike action RPG developed by Randwerk and published by Sidekick Publishing officially launched in Early Access on Steam on September 8, 2026. Built around the unusual concept of castles on the move, the game offers fast-paced and engaging strategic gameplay.

A world of moving fortresses

Wanderburg takes players into a strange medieval world where castles are no longer anchored to the ground but fitted with wheels so they can roam freely. The rules of survival here are simple: castles hunt, villages flee, and only the largest fortress can survive.

Starting out as a small fortress, players move forward and crush everything in their path. Fleeing villages, wandering livestock, and smaller fortresses all become valuable resources that help your castle grow stronger. Each time you defeat a rival castle, your fortress not only gains power but also expands in size, eventually transforming into a massive war machine on the battlefield.

Build your own siege arsenal

At the heart of Wanderburg is its modular customization system. Players can freely assemble and develop their fortress in different ways during each run:

  • A wide range of weapons: Install cannons, build magical towers staffed by mages, or lay explosive mines to destroy enemies.
  • Unique combinations: The game blends steam-powered technology with ancient magic. You might see knights charging into battle on bicycles or massive castles unleashing continuous barrages like battleships on land.
  • Long-term progression: After each run, players can unlock additional siege modules, new structures, support vehicles, artifacts, and captains. These options expand the strategic possibilities and create countless unique combinations for future runs.

Smooth and well-optimized gameplay

Designed with a minimalist style, Wanderburg focuses heavily on quick, fast-paced entertainment. The game offers full support for mouse and keyboard controls as well as gamepads. Developer Randwerk has also put considerable effort into performance optimization, allowing the game to run smoothly across a wide range of PC configurations.
