Frogwares has officially released The Sinking City 2, the sequel to its survival horror game inspired by the literary universe of H.P. Lovecraft. The game launched on Steam on August 18, 2026, returning players to the haunting city of Arkham and its terrifying supernatural mysteries.

Arkham submerged in a supernatural flood

Set in the 1920s in the port city of Arkham, New England, the game takes players into a bleak world collapsing beneath a supernatural flood. Streets filled with seawater, decaying Art Deco architecture, and underground bars shrouded in darkness create the oppressive atmosphere that defines the setting.

Players can travel on foot or by small boat, explore shortcuts behind collapsed seawalls, and uncover secrets hidden inside locked rooms. The game world spans a bizarre hospital, a dangerous fish market, and the depths beneath the city, where ancient forces are beginning to awaken.

Survival horror and resource management

Unlike its predecessor, which placed greater emphasis on detective work, The Sinking City 2 shifts decisively toward pure survival horror. The tension builds as players venture deeper into dangerous areas, with brief moments of safety available only at temporary shelters.

To survive, players must carefully manage their inventory, solve disturbing puzzles, and make use of shortcuts to return for essential supplies and equipment upgrades. Resources are relatively scarce, forcing players to weigh their options carefully before every encounter.

A rescue mission fraught with danger

The story begins when a failed ritual leaves the soul of the woman you love trapped in the Dreamlands, while her physical body is taken over by evil forces. To save her, players must embark on a perilous journey to uncover the source of the flood.

Along the way, players will face a variety of terrifying enemies:

  • The Slither: Creatures capable of controlling and resurrecting corpses.
  • Deep Ones: Monsters that emerge from dark waters.
  • Shadows: Entities that warp space and test the player's courage.

Every encounter calls for a flexible approach. Players can choose to confront enemies head-on or retreat, upgrade their weapons, adjust their equipment, and return once they are better prepared.

Expanded investigation system and greater freedom

Despite its stronger focus on survival, Frogwares retains its signature investigative elements. Players can gather clues, decipher forbidden journals, and analyze the remains of mysterious rituals. Optional side investigations do not block or disrupt the main story, but completing them can unlock safer routes and provide additional supplies and valuable upgrade items.
