Halloween: The Game - A promising asymmetric survival horror game
The survival horror genre has welcomed a promising new title in the form of Halloween: The Game. Inspired by the classic film franchise, the game recreates the bloody Halloween night of 1978 in the quiet town of Haddonfield, where players must find a way to survive—or become the biggest nightmare the town has ever known.
Experience two opposing perspectives
Halloween: The Game offers two main game modes, giving players the flexibility to choose how they want to experience the game:
- Single-player story mode: For the first time in a title from the franchise, players can experience the events of "The Night He Came Home" from Michael Myers' perspective. This mode focuses on narrative-driven gameplay, allowing players to fully step into the role of the notorious killer.
- Asymmetric multiplayer (1v4): The game's core mode pits one player as Michael Myers against up to four other players as the heroes of Haddonfield. Matches take place in a constantly changing open environment, creating tense and unpredictable encounters.
Stealth gameplay and tactical teamwork
For players taking on the role of Michael Myers, the primary objective is to hide in the shadows, stalk his victims, and spread fear throughout the town. The killer has several special abilities that allow him to take advantage of the dark environment, but he must also avoid being detected too early, as residents can call the police or fight back.
On the other side, the survivors must quickly warn residents, help them evacuate, and contact the authorities. Players can collect everyday items or weapons scattered throughout the map to defend themselves. One of the game's distinctive features is its interaction with NPCs: players can equip residents with weapons and work alongside them to distract the killer or slow his advance, creating opportunities to escape.
Modern visuals powered by Unreal Engine 5
Developed with Unreal Engine 5, Halloween: The Game recreates Haddonfield with a high level of detail. Cinematic lighting combined with realistic visual effects helps capture the dark, oppressive atmosphere of the original film. The AI powering NPCs has also been enhanced to produce more natural reactions to dangerous situations throughout the game.
The game officially launched on September 8, 2026, on Steam, offering tense gameplay for fans of co-op horror.
