Dune: Awakening officially arrives on consoles, bringing an epic survival journey to Arrakis

Following its launch on PC, Dune: Awakening – an open-world survival game blending MMO and RPG elements and set in the iconic Dune universe – officially arrives on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on September 22, 2026. Developed by Funcom, the game gives console players the opportunity to set foot on Arrakis, one of the harshest desert planets in the universe.

Dune: Awakening drops players into a living, ever-changing Arrakis, from the vast dunes of the Deep Desert and the hidden caves of the Fremen to the bustling streets of Arrakeen. Players can scale towering mountains with a Shigawire hook or craft their own ornithopter to soar across the desert, where sandworms are always lurking beneath the surface. Massive sandstorms can strike without warning, forcing players to find shelter quickly before they can enjoy the rare moments of calm as the sun sinks toward the horizon over Arrakis.

A cinematic story rooted in the Dune universe

The game lets players step directly into the world made familiar by the Dune novels and films. Players can join one of two major factions – Atreides or Harkonnen – and rise through their ranks while following a dedicated storyline. Along the way, they will encounter familiar characters such as Duke Leto and Feyd-Rautha, investigate the mysterious disappearance of the Fremen, and gradually uncover their own character's story. Survival and combat challenges on a harsh planet

Arrakis is a brutal test that not everyone will survive. Players must learn to adapt to the planet's extreme conditions, from seeking shade to escape the scorching heat to extracting water from the bodies of enemies and purifying it into a usable supply. By studying the Schools of the Imperium, players can unlock a wide range of skills, weapons, and tools, including the superior firepower of the Trooper, the Bene Gesserit's ability to control enemies with their voice, the sophisticated traps of the Mentat, and the Swordmaster's mastery of close-quarters combat.

Players can claim territory on Arrakis and build their own bases, ranging from small outposts to massive fortresses constructed piece by piece in the architectural styles of Atreides, Harkonnen, and other factions, then customized to reflect their personal tastes. Bases can be equipped with crafting machinery and spice refineries to expand players' power and wealth over time. Players can also craft a wide range of desert survival equipment as well as more advanced vehicles, including ground vehicles and ornithopters.
