Gears of War: E-Day officially launches: Returning to the catastrophic Emergence Day

5

Gears of War: E-Day is the latest entry in the classic third-person shooter franchise, revisiting the devastating events of Emergence Day. Set 14 years before the events of the original game, the story follows Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago as they fight for survival against the sudden emergence of the Locust Horde from beneath the ground.

Built entirely on Unreal Engine 5, the game promises realistic visuals, a dark and distinctive horror atmosphere, and familiar cover-based shooting mechanics that have been modernized for the new generation.

Varied game modes and key improvements

The game offers a range of solo and online multiplayer options, from a story-driven campaign to highly competitive versus modes.

Horde Siege co-op mode

The familiar wave-based survival mode returns on a larger scale. Players can choose from classes such as Assault, Marksman, Medic, or Breacher to form a four-player squad. Horde Siege introduces the ability for multiple squads to coordinate across larger maps, completing shared objectives and taking down powerful world bosses.

Versus PvP mode

The PvP multiplayer system has been refined around 4v4 matches across a variety of brand-new maps. Players can compete in ranked matches or join casual lobbies for a more relaxed experience. The upgraded movement system makes actions such as jumping, vaulting, sliding, and providing cover more fluid while retaining the series' signature cover-based gameplay.
