Castlevania: Belmont's Curse: A new chapter in the legendary monster-hunting series
Konami's legendary action-adventure series returns with its latest installment, Castlevania: Belmont's Curse. This 2D action game launches on October 15, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch. The project marks a notable collaboration between Konami and two game development studios, Evil Empire and Motion Twin.
A story set after the events of Dracula's Curse
Set 23 years after the events of Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse, the game takes players to Paris in 1499. The city is engulfed in flames as hordes of grotesque creatures suddenly emerge from the shadows.
Trevor Belmont, the hero who once defeated Dracula, and his daughter, Rose Belmont, venture into the burning streets. Armed with the legendary holy whip, Vampire Killer, they begin hunting the monsters pouring out of a foreboding castle. However, Rose soon becomes entangled in a dark conspiracy lurking beneath the surface. Players will join her on a quest to save Paris from impending destruction.
Fluid whip-based movement and fast-paced combat
The signature whip-based combat of the Castlevania series has been refined to deliver smoother movement and attacks:
- Flexible movement: Players can swing their whip to grapple and traverse complex terrain with greater freedom.
- Fast-paced combat: Mastering whip techniques allows Rose to close in on enemies and eliminate them efficiently.
A diverse boss roster and the Arcana card system
Throughout their journey, players will face familiar bosses such as Death, Medusa, and Carmilla, alongside new characters such as Joan of Arc. Once defeated, bosses have their powers sealed within Rose's tarot cards through a system known as Arcana. Players can use these cards to cast spells or unleash special attacks.
Customize your combat style with weapons and relics
The game lets players tailor Rose's playstyle through an extensive equipment system:
- Seven weapon categories: Offer a variety of attack options to suit different combat approaches.
- Relic system: Provides powerful effects that enhance both offense and defense.
Combining weapons with relics collected during exploration allows players to develop a combat style that best suits their preferences.
Gothic environments meet modern visuals
Castlevania: Belmont's Curse retains the series' signature classical Gothic architecture while presenting it through a more refined, contemporary visual style. The game's maps are carefully designed to blend entirely new areas with familiar elements that have helped define the franchise.
