Story setting in Red Grave City

The events of Devil May Cry 5 take place several years after the Order of the Sword incident. A mysterious phenomenon suddenly emerges in the heart of Red Grave City, where a colossal tree erupts from beneath the ground and spreads its roots throughout the area, draining blood from local residents.

In response to the disaster, the young Devil Hunter Nero heads straight into Red Grave aboard the mobile Devil May Cry vehicle alongside his companion Nico, a self-proclaimed artisan of arms who supplies him with custom weapons and equipment. As the crisis unfolds, Nero searches for several things within Red Grave: his lost pride, his stolen power, and a man left behind.

Armed with his signature Red Queen sword and the customizable Blue Rose revolver, Nero battles through hordes of demons on his way toward the terrifying entity at the center of the city. Throughout the journey, a new source of power burns within his right arm — the anti-demon mechanical weapon known as the Devil Breaker.

Hardware optimization and stable performance

For an action game that relies heavily on precision and fast reactions, frame rate plays a crucial role in the overall experience. Capcom has confirmed that the primary technical goal of this port is to maintain a stable 60 FPS throughout gameplay. Notably, this performance target is supported in both TV mode when the console is docked and handheld mode while playing on the go.

To achieve this level of smooth performance on Nintendo Switch 2 hardware, the development team made several technical adjustments. Devil Hunter Edition removes demanding graphical features such as Ray Tracing and does not include Turbo Mode or the Legendary Dark Knight difficulty level, which features significantly increased enemy density and was originally designed for more powerful modern consoles. These changes also help keep the game's installation size at a manageable 28 GB, making it well suited for portable gaming devices.

Complete core content and playable character roster

Despite the graphical adjustments made to prioritize performance, Devil May Cry 5: Devil Hunter Edition still delivers the full core content package. Players receive immediate access to the entire story campaign and all playable characters without the need to unlock them or purchase additional standalone DLC.

From the beginning, players can switch between the series' iconic combat styles through a roster that includes Nero with his Devil Breaker arm, Dante and his extensive arsenal, the mysterious V with his summoned creatures, and Dante's twin brother Vergil. Additional content such as the EX Color Pack, Alt Hero Colors costumes, the classic Bloody Palace challenge mode, and the Jukebox feature for customizing battle music are also included as part of the package.
