A new journey beyond the walls of Midgar

As the second entry in the remake trilogy based on the legendary original game, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth picks up immediately after Cloud Strife and his group escape the fictional city of Midgar. Instead of the dark industrial streets controlled by the Shinra Electric Power Company, players are welcomed into a vast, vibrant world full of life.

Throughout the journey, Cloud and familiar allies including Tifa, Aerith, Barret, and Red XIII travel across sprawling grasslands atop chocobos, explore new regions, and confront a destiny twisted by Sephiroth — Cloud's longtime nemesis.

A deeper story told from multiple perspectives

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is more than a graphical upgrade, expanding its universe through multiple interconnected storylines:

  • Shinra's relentless exploitation: Shinra continues draining the planet's lifestream energy and converting it into mako to power industry, threatening the survival of all living things.
  • Zack Fair's perspective: Players will follow SOLDIER First Class hero Zack Fair as he carries an exhausted Cloud across the wastelands beyond Midgar.
  • Global political conflict: Wutai's interim government leads an anti-Shinra resistance committee, officially declaring war and pushing the world into a new era of conflict.
  • The awakening of ancient entities: Mysterious black-cloaked figures carrying the remnants of Jenova — a threat from the stars — unintentionally awaken massive guardians known as Weapons from the lifestream to defend the planet.
