Hyperwired officially launches, bringing a unique space roguelike shooter with an innovative power cable mechanic
After months of anticipation, Hyperwired, a space roguelike shooter with stylish pixel art visuals, officially launched on July 2, 2026, for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch. The game was developed by SIDRALGAMES and published by SelectaPlay.
The biggest feature that sets Hyperwired apart from other top-down space shooters is its unusual yet intuitive power cable mechanic. Your spacecraft trails a power cable behind it, and you'll need to constantly search for scattered spacesockets throughout each stage to recharge your energy. However, once plugged in, your ship can only move within the cable's maximum length, forcing you to carefully balance safe recharging against the risk of venturing farther away to fight enemies.
Gameplay embraces the roguelike formula with procedurally generated stages, ensuring that no two runs are ever the same. Players will explore a sprawling galaxy, activate spacesockets to clear each area, unlock access to the next sector, and eventually face challenging bosses waiting at the end of every stage.
More than 10 playable ships with distinct playstyles
Hyperwired offers more than 10 playable spacecraft, each designed with its own unique gameplay style. During your adventure, you can also rescue stranded ships and recruit them as AI companions to fight alongside you. In addition, the game equips players with a powerful mega-laser capable of clearing the screen of incoming enemy fire.
Slow-Mo System and hundreds of upgrade combinations
With its fast-paced combat and dense bullet patterns—a hallmark of the bullet hell genre—Hyperwired features a Slow-Mo System that can be activated almost whenever you need it. The ability is recharged by collecting energy dropped by defeated enemies, allowing players to strategically slow down intense encounters.
Players can also collect BATTERY to unlock more than 250 projectile modifier combinations, alongside CHIP upgrades that temporarily drop from defeated enemies. Altogether, the game features more than 40 ship upgrades, ranging from faster energy recharging and increased firepower to extended cable length and even temporary invisibility.
