Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game officially launches on PC and consoles
On July 23, 2026, the 1v1 fighting game Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game officially launched on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch. Based on the popular Avatar animated franchise, the game recreates the world of bending through traditional hand-drawn 2D visuals and a highly technical combat system.
A true 2D fighting experience with hand-drawn visuals
Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game takes players into high-speed battles featuring familiar characters from Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Legend of Korra, and the expanded Avatar universe. The development team uses a hand-drawn 2D animation style to preserve the original spirit and visual identity of the animated series.
The initial roster includes 12 playable characters. Each fighter features a unique combat style based on the four bending elements: Water, Earth, Fire, and Air, along with characters who rely on distinctive physical combat abilities.
Deep combat mechanics and Support Characters system
The control system in Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game is designed to be approachable, allowing new players to quickly get familiar with the basics. However, the game still offers a deep fighting system for players who enjoy technical gameplay:
- Flow and Energy Point system: Players use the Flow gauge to perform dashes, evasive moves, and flexible movement across the battlefield. Building up Energy Points through precise actions allows players to activate advanced abilities and cinematic Super Arts attacks.
- Support Characters feature: Players can select three support characters to assist them during battles. Each support character provides unique abilities, helping optimize strategies and cover weaknesses of the main fighter.
Rich content with multiple game modes
Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game offers a variety of modes designed for both solo experiences and competitive battles:
- Story Mode and Arcade Mode: The story mode features a completely new storyline written by creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Tim Hedrick. Meanwhile, Arcade Mode allows players to explore individual character stories.
- Advanced Training Mode: Provides detailed practice tools, including hitbox visualization, frame data, and save states to help players analyze and improve their techniques.
- Art Gallery: A collection featuring artwork, concept designs, and previously unreleased illustrations exploring the history of the Avatar universe.
- Other modes: Includes Offline & Online Versus and Spectator Mode, allowing players to watch competitive matches.
Optimized online connectivity with rollback netcode and cross-play
To deliver a high-quality competitive experience, the game features proprietary rollback netcode technology and full cross-play support between PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch. Online competition includes Ranked matches, Casual matches, lobbies, spectator features, and replay support.
