Nioh 3 officially launches, ushering in the open field era for the dark samurai series
After a long wait, the action RPG blockbuster Nioh 3 from developer Team Ninja has officially launched on PC and PS5 on February 6, 2026. As a challenging Soulslike title, the third entry promises a harsh yet captivating journey set in a fictional Sengoku-era backdrop.
The journey to conquer The Crucible and become Shogun
Nioh 3 continues the legacy of the renowned dark samurai series, placing players in a war-torn world where bandits run rampant and ferocious yokai lurk everywhere. Your ultimate goal is to overcome The Crucible and claim your status as Shogun.
A dangerous new open field world
The biggest change in Nioh 3 is its open field structure. Instead of isolated stages, the game offers a vast interconnected world for players to explore freely. However, this freedom comes with intense pressure, as the signature tension of the Nioh series remains present in every gloomy village and shadow-covered region.
Combat system: Blending samurai and ninja styles
The combat system has been upgraded with seamless, real-time switching between two core playstyles:
- Samurai style: Focuses on power, durability, and direct, heavy-hitting strikes.
- Ninja style: Prioritizes speed, mobility, and special techniques (jutsu) to eliminate enemies in an instant.
Important notes for players
If you played the demo, your save data will automatically carry over to the full version when using the same device. However, once you start the full game, you will no longer be able to return to the demo.
As for rewards, the Twin-Snake Helmet will be granted for free to players who complete the demo or defeat the boss Jakotsu-baba in the full game before February 15, 2026. After that date, the helmet will become a rare drop from Jakotsu-baba.
Content warning: Nioh 3 contains intense violence, blood, and sensitive content, and is intended for mature audiences only.
Nioh 3 is currently available on Steam and the PlayStation Store in two editions: Standard and Digital Deluxe Edition. Be sure to review your cart carefully before purchasing to select the version that suits you best.
