In Crabmeat, players take on the role of a debt-ridden prisoner of Feudostate. Your mission is to collect valuable southern King Crab within seven days. If you fail to meet the assigned quota, you and your entire family risk permanent exile from the country.

The game takes place in the harsh waters of Antarctica. Players must operate a government-issued crab fishing vessel while managing onboard equipment to keep everything running under extreme weather conditions.

Most of the gameplay revolves around the crabbing process. Players need to bait traps, drop them into the ocean, haul them back up using a winch, and collect the crabs caught inside. Successful fishing trips bring you closer to completing your quota.

However, these icy waters hold more than just southern King Crab. Beneath the cold depths lurk dangerous creatures capable of attacking your vessel. Players must continue their fishing operations while protecting both themselves and their ship from unexpected threats rising from the ocean.

Crabmeat also experiments with a hybrid gameplay style that combines a first-person perspective with point-and-click mechanics. The entire game can be controlled using only the mouse, creating a slower pace that emphasizes the atmosphere of isolation in the frigid ocean.
